Put together, these features let you speak to Claude on your phone and have it act across apps, and let Claude generate and analyze high-value content and reports from datasets and connected services.

⚙️ How to Enable the New Features in Claude

Before you can use the upgraded file creator or Claude’s mobile app actions, you need to enable specific features in Claude’s settings. Here’s how to do it step-by-step:

  1. Open Claude (web or desktop).
  2. Go to the bottom-left corner and click on Settings.
  3. Choose the Features tab.
  4. Enable the following (as applicable):
    • AI-Powered Artifacts (Artifacts) — required for richer file creation and content generation.
    • Search & Reference Chats — this acts like a memory feature so Claude can find relevant details in past chats.
    • Analyze Tool — for data analysis and file insights.
  5. Important: You might see that certain features cannot be on at the same time (e.g., the previous version of a feature vs. the new file creation & analysis). If you want the new file creator/analyzer, switch the older feature off—Claude only allows one of those modes active at a time.
  6. Finally, refresh Claude if needed so the changes take effect.

If you plan to use Claude Mobile’s app actions, you’ll also need to grant permissions from the mobile app when prompted—these are standard OS-level permissions (calendar, reminders, contacts, etc.). Accepting them allows Claude to act directly in your device apps.

📱 Claude Mobile: What It Can Do on Your Phone

The mobile update is particularly powerful because it allows Claude to take real actions in phone apps. That’s beyond just producing text; Claude can schedule events, check availability, create reminders, draft texts and emails, and even look up nearby locations like coffee shops and return results with links and maps-like info.

Example of a single prompt that demonstrates the new capability:

“Schedule a focused time block over the next work week that avoids conflicts with existing meetings, find nearby coffee shops, and remind me to take my headphones.”

In my demo, Claude did the following after I clicked “Try it out”: checked my calendar for conflicts, created an event in the calendar, added the reminder for headphones, and generated a short list of nearby coffee shops.

It’s impressive how quickly Claude handled all actions, even over a flaky Airbnb Wi‑Fi connection. The key is that the mobile app has connectors that let Claude call into the appropriate app APIs and make changes or propose items—so you don’t have to switch between apps manually.

Claude’s power increases considerably when you connect it to your services. In Settings → Connectors, you’ll find a long list of services you can hook up to Claude:

With a simple prompt, Claude generated the slides, layout, headings and suggested imagery. It even applied a color scheme (I changed it later because I didn’t like the orange).

Another showcase: I asked Claude to generate dummy sales data for a fleet of five food trucks, exported it as a text file, uploaded it to Claude, and then asked for a full analysis and optimization strategy.
