Elon Musk has reached a settlement to resolve a $128 million lawsuit filed by four former Twitter (now X) executives whom he fired immediately after completing the company’s takeover in 2022.

The dismissal of the executives—CEO Parag Agrawal, CFO Ned Segal, and top lawyers Sean Edgett and Vijaya Gadde—was one of Musk’s first actions as the new owner. The four claimed they never received the severance payments they were owed.

According to the lawsuit, the withholding of these payments was because the executives had tried to force Musk to stick to his original $44 billion commitment when he attempted to back out of the purchase deal. The seriousness of the situation is highlighted by a quote included in the lawsuit, taken from Walter Isaacson’s biography of Musk, where the billionaire allegedly stated he would “hunt every single one” of Twitter’s C-suite “till the day they die.”

Although a court filing confirms that the parties have reached a settlement agreement, the exact terms of that agreement have not yet been disclosed.

It is important to note that this lawsuit is not an isolated incident. Musk recently also had to settle a class-action lawsuit involving approximately 6,000 laid-off Twitter employees. Many of these former staff members complained that they received incomplete severance payments or did not receive any at all.
